***We are now accepting applications for the W25 semester intake! Please review the following information carefully and submit your application package before the deadline***
W25 APPLICATION DEADLINE – NOVEMBER 29TH AT 5PM
ABOUT VOLUNTEERING
Our volunteer program is an intensive, experiential learning opportunity for University of Guelph students. Volunteers work hands-on with our birds, but also clean, prepare food, maintain our facility, deliver our education programs, and attend our meetings. It’s hard work, but we think the rewards are worth it! In addition to working with some amazing birds, volunteers learn communication, dedication, teamwork, leadership, responsibility, and a variety of hands-on skills.
To be eligible to volunteer you must:
- Be currently enrolled as a student at the University of Guelph.
- Be willing and able to commit a minimum of three semesters, and 8 hours per week.
- Be able to attend our mandatory weekly meetings on Mondays at 5:30pm.
Our volunteers require:
- Passion for making a difference through environmental education and science communication.
- A growth mindset and an eagerness to learn and develop skills.
- Strong sense of responsibility, integrity and dedication.
- A positive attitude, open mind, and desire to be part of an awesome team!
Think you’ve got what it takes?
We strongly prioritize the right attitude and fit for our team over related experience. Our volunteers learn all the necessary skills and information during training, but it is hard to teach passion and enthusiasm! We encourage you to read over this page carefully, and check out our Volunteer FAQ to determine if volunteering is right for you.
We assess our need for new volunteers at the beginning of each semester, and take only as many as we need. Watch this page and our social media channels for announcements. If you’re ready to apply, please fill out our application (below) and send it via email – along with your resume and cover letter – to volunteer@wildontario.ca!
